Building energy solutions (5cr)

Objective

You know the requirements for energy efficiency in new and existing buildings and the background of these requirements.You are acquainted with all kinds of methods to produce energy for heating and cooling in buildings and also for larger areas. You know the principles and methods to produce energy with renewable and fossil energy sources and the impact of energy production to the environment. You are acquainted with the alternative ways of producing energy in decentralised systems. You are acquainted with the requirements and restrictions of the community in energy production.

Content

How are the defining and assesment of energy efficiency realized in Finland and in the other Northern countries? What kind of solutions are used in heating and cooling energy production in real estates locally? What are the energy sources and how are they utilised in energy production of real estates and in dezentralised systems? What are the requirements of the community for zentralised and dezentralised energy production? How are the energy production and distribution for buildings taken into account as part of the community infrastructure?
