Objective

After completing this course the student understands the unique properties of play as a mode of user interaction. He/she identifies strengths and limitations of current game development technologies. He/she is able to apply principles of agile software development to game development. The student knows how to do play testing, usability testing, focus testing, and technical testing. After completing this course the student also understands how the traditional software engineering process can be organized in different kind of projects and he/she understands the importance of documentation and is able to use UML-diagrams in the definition of traditional software.

Properties of play, current game development technologies, agile software development, play testing, usability testing, focus testing, technical testing. Software engineering process, UML-diagrams, quality assurance, documentation, requirements control, product management.
