Objective

Knowledge, understanding and proficiency of:
- shipboard terms and definitions
- watchkeeping routines as a part of navigational watch
- responsibilities of a proper look-out by sight and hearing
- contribute to monitoring and controlling a safe watch

- Shipboard and watchkeeping terms and definitions plus information
- Use of appropriate internal communication and alarm systems
- Watch procedures and associated environmental protection
- Use of magnetic and gyro compasses
- Steer the ship
- Helm orders
- Steering equipment change-over procedures
