Objective

Knowledge, understanding and proficiency of:
- different types of oil and chemical tankers, general arrangement and construction.
- basics of cargo systems and physical properties of oil and chemicals.
- basics of cargo operations.
- basic knowledge of the hazards associated with tanker operations.
- basics of hazard controls.

Content

Constructions and types of tankers, cargo systems, physical properties of oil and chemicals, health hazards, environmental hazards, reactivity hazards, explosion and flammability hazards, sources of ignition and electrostatic hazards, toxicity hazards, basic knowledge of hazard controls, knowledge and understanding of tanker safety culture and safety management, understanding of Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS), safe cargo operations and environment protection procedures.
