Objective

Knowledge, understanding and proficiency of:
- evaluation of navigational information derived from ARPA, in order to make and implement command decisions for collision avoidance and for directing the safe navigation of the ship.
- research technical criteria and ARPA equipment performance, limitations, operation and use of ARPA.

Content

Research technical criteria, the ARPA features and requirements, the label with the (hand-marking exercises), simulation exercises and skills to display in the simulator. The content is based on IMO model courses 1.07 and 1.08.

Discussion with the teacher and, where appropriate, PSP-planning with your own mentor teacher.

Teaching methods

Scheduled track:
You will attend teaching and guidance sessions as specified in the schedule. Study of radar theory in class, the manual rate and direction calculations in the class on the plotting sheet. The use of the radar on the ship simulator.

Discussion with the teacher and, where appropriate, PSP-planning with your own mentor teacher.
