Objective

Part I
You understand the atomic structure, periodic table and chemical bonding.
You understand behavior of solids, liquids and gases.
You have ability to balance a chemical equation and performe stoichiometric calculations for example in reactions of acids and bases and in combustion reactions.

Part II
You have ability to performe thermochemistry calculations.
You understand the mechanism in redox reactions and you can apply your knowledge in corrosion reactions.
You have ability to understand the meaning and importance of water chemical performance in steam generation chemistry.

Content

Part I:
How the structure of an atom affects on chemical behaviour of an element ?
What information you get from the periodic table ?
How the chemical bonding affects on the behavour of matter ?
What information you get from phasediagram and what information give gas laws ?
How you perform stoichiometric calculations and what kind of reactions are acid-base reactions and combustion reactions ?

Part II
How you calculate enthalpy changes, free energy changes and entropy changes in chemical reactions ?
How you can use electrochemical series ?
How the steam generation chemistry and chemical treatment programs give methods preventing scales and corrosion.

Qualifications
