Objective

After completing this course, you are able to
• understand the atomic structure, periodic table of elements and chemical bonding
• understand the behavior of solids, liquids and gases, and basics of pH value and gas laws
• write and balance a chemical equation and utilize it in calculations
• solve the basic physical equations between quantities and convert values from one unit to another
• do basic calculations using vector quantities and determine quantities graphically
• use the basic concepts related to the mechanics of a solid in order to theoretically and experimentally solve problems that occur in the fields of physics and technology.

Content

• How does the structure of an atom affect the chemical behaviour of an element?
• What information can be obtained from the periodic table?
• How to make basic pH and gas calculations?
• What information can be obtained from chemical equations and where can this information be utilized?
• How to calculate the distance of travel, velocity and acceleration when a particle is moving?
• How to apply Newton's laws to particles and rigid bodies?
• How to apply Newton's laws to moving, non-moving and revolving bodies?
• How to apply the principle of mechanical energy to energy conversion?
