How do you draw up a plan for your thesis?

Teaching methods

- Draw up a detailed RESEARCH PROPOSAL and have it approved in WIHI by your thesis advisor (at stage 3 in WIHI). This also roughly corresponds to Chapter 1 of your final thesis.
- If there is a joint agreement among commissioner(s), advisor and the student, it should be approved by everyone involved
- Seek research permit to conduct study at XAMK or at your commissioner’s organization, if required.
-Use XAMK reporting template to write your research proposal or thesis plan
- You can use template provided in research methods courses to write a research proposal or as advised by your supervisor
-Familiarize yourself with the thesis evaluation form at this stage already.

This will be done working closely with your own supervisor e.g. through face to face meetings, and other visual modes.

Student workload

- Student completes about 30% of the thesis work

Assessment methods and criteria

- Approximately 30 % of the thesis is ready at this stage. You should submit a research plan to your advisor in WIHI which should broadly cover the following areas:

-The objective of the thesis including those jointly agreed with the commissioner
-Description of the thesis process as a whole
-Specifications of the methods used in different phases of the study
-Choice of data collection and analysis methods
-If you need research permit (and other requirements) to conduct the proposed study
-Justifications of decisions which potentially affects the reliability and the validity of the study

Use XAMK reporting template with recommended source referencing.

After the completion of this phase 1, step 3 in WIHI, credits are transferred automatically for ‘Bachelor’s thesis: idea and planning’ course to your transcript of records
