Objective

1. You know various air conditioning systems, the components of systems and the indoor climate levels, which can be created by these systems
2. You know different air conditioning processes and master their thermodynamic calculation
3. You know the dimensioning of air conditioning systems i.e. to select the air handling units with components, air duct networks and terminal air devices, and to calculate performance characteristics of the fans
4. You master the main principles of air distribution
5. You know the key elements of ventilation effectiveness, as ventilation and capture efficiency
6. You know the Finnish national building codes of ventilation and fire safety
7. You master the basics of fire safety and know how to apply fire safety to the design of air handling and ventilation systems.

Content

* How different components of air handling units are dimensioned and selected?
* Which processes are in use in air handling units and how they are calculated?
* Which kind of methods are used to dimension air duct networks and how pressure losses are calculated?
* Which kind of air distribution methods are used?
* Which factors form the ventilation effectiveness?
*How do ventilation systems influence on fire safety of buildings?
* How do fire compartments affect the ventilation design?
