Objective

You will learn the basics of heating and cooling energy demands and consumptions in buildings.
You can apply regulations and guidelines to simple buildings.
You can calculate heating and cooling demands in rooms and in buildings.
You have familiarized yourself also with the computer based calculations. You can simulate and calculate the total energy consumption of a simple building with the IDA ICE –software.
You can take into account the energy efficiency in your HVAC-design and dimensioning.

Content

How energy consumption affects on climate change?
What kind of regulations there are for buildings energy consumption and efficiency (NBC D3)?
How to monitor and normalize of energy usage. Heat recovery in ventilation.
What kind of heating and cooling demands are in rooms and in buildings.
How to calculate cooling power demands in rooms and in buildings.
How to control of summer season room temperature.

Materials

Total studying time approximately 135 hours.

Teaching methods

Scheduled track:
You take part in the weekday-based teaching and tutoring. You study according to the group timetable and do the given homework independently.

Qualifications

You have attended to the course Principles of Design and Dimensioning of HVAC, Heating Systems, Air Conditioning Systems or have the equivalent knowledge.
