Objective

You learn technologies and methods which can be used to minimize indirect and direct environmental impacts in different fields of industry, taking into account the whole lifecycle and ecoefficiency of the process/product. You also learn the principles of environmental management and the permissions required by different activities.

Offered in the Learn page. Some of the online material is in English, all tasks are in Finnish.

Teaching methods

Opportunity to study at your own pace. However, the evaluation according to commonly agreed dates. Does not require attendance.

Content scheduling

In Part 1, we learn about innovation and the resource-wise economy. We also familiarize ourselves with the Environmental Protection Act and the environmental permit.

In Part 2, we consider whether environmental protection can be turned from investment to return? We also use Statistics Finland's tables to find out how much money is invested in environmental protection in Finland and where the money is spent in the sectors. In addition, you will learn what an environmental system is and what it is used for.

In Part 3, the student first becomes acquainted with the principles of responsibility reporting and then with the responsibility report of the company of their choice. At the end of the course, we will look a little at environmental communication and what good environmental communication is like?

Assessment methods and criteria

Evaluation based on tasks. 0-2 points or 0-5 points depending on the task. Late returns will reduce points.

You will get a good grade, if you work according to the instructions and deadlines.

Qualifications

Attending the course requires completing most of the basic and compulsory professional studies.
