Objective
The student is able to
- use the basic manual functions of a digital camera
- explain the general theoretical framework of photography
- set the camera correctly in different situations
- choose the appropriate lighting technique, using studio flash, portraiture, macro, long exposure, composition, and creative photography.

How to handle the camera and use manual settings to improve the quality of pictures?
How to explore various settings to create different visual effects such as depth of field, length of exposure, flash techniques and multiple exposures?

How to handle a camera and the use of manual settings to improve photographic technique creatively. Exploring various settings to create different visual effects such as depth of field, length of exposure, flash techniques, multiple exposures, etc., through various creative photographic projects.
Teaching method:
The course will be delivered online through Moodle. During the course, students will be expected to study the material available in the course, and complete weekly photographic challenges according to the topics given. Students will submit their images through the platform for open discussion and feedback.
Assessment criteria, approved/failed
Completion of the photographic projects in a creative way. Understanding how to utilise and take control of manual settings of a digital camera for creative photography. Understanding the technical criteria required for specific outcomes in photography.

Prior skills & equipment:
Students will be expected to be able to use their own software (e.g. Photoshop, Gimp, etc.) to enhance and manipulate images in some cases. Students will also be expected to have a basic understanding of photography and how to change the settings on their cameras.
Students will need a digital camera that is capable of making manual settings. E.g. DSLR, micro four thirds, mirrorless, etc.). Simple point & shoot cameras, mobile phone cameras, and action cameras are not enough for this course.
Important:
All images have to be taken by the student, during the course.
Prior existing images are not acceptable.
