Objective

You understand the historical development process of Finnish youth work and civic activities as well as the theoretical basis, goals, contents and values governing them. You learn to examine youth work and civic activities as part of a wider societal and cultural framework. You can identify topical challenges in youth work and civic activities. You learn to examine how youth work and civic activities promote affluent society. You know how to act in voluntary work. You know how associations are established.

Which characteristics play a central role in the history of youth work and civic activities? What kind of theoretical premises, values, goals and methods underlie civic activities and youth work? What is the societal meaning of youth work and civic activities? How do associations operate?
