Objective

You are able to identify the factors behind children’s and young people’s special needs. You show your familiarity with different working environments and activities of youth work ? for example, special youth work, outreach-work and child welfare ? and improve your abilities in working with children and young people with special needs. You know the importance of the legislation concerning children and young people and how it strengthens their rights.

Content

What kind of factors underlie special needs? What are the ways of working with children and young people with special needs? How does the Child Protection Act guide practical work? What does research tell about children with special needs? What is the job description of personal care workers?

a. You can use professional concepts in an expert way in child protection. c. You can work as a team member in social youth work. e. You can choose appropriate methods used in working with children and adolescents with special needs and justify the choices.

Qualifications

Attending the course requires completing the course of Special education in youth work.
