Objective

You become familiar with the history of the youth, the origins and meaning of youth cultures from society’s point of view. You recognize and analyze topical phenomena in the framework of youth culture. You become familiar with historical and today’s research on youth.

Content

What kinds of movements and developments does the history of youth cultures involve? What kind of an image do the media convey of youth? What kinds of phenomena does the digital world of young people include? How have subcultures and youth phenomena manifested themselves in different times? How does the youth research of different times regard adolescents as members of society?

Teaching methods

You become familiar with the history of the youth, the origins and meaning of youth cultures from society’s point of view. You recognize and analyze topical phenomena in the framework of youth culture. You become familiar with historical and today’s research on youth.
