Objective
The student knows the structure and function of the foot and is familiar with good foot care habits.
The student learns how to take care of her or his feet and knows factors that threaten foot health.
The student understands that some diseases like diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis and skin diseases make the feet vulnerable.
The student understands diabetics' foot problems, and the need for screening and risk classification at least once a year.
Content
The course content consists of four topics which are:
- Anatomy and physiology of the foot, 1 ECTS credit
- Healthy feet, daily foot care and proper shoes, 1 ECTS credit
- Diabetic foot, rheumatoid foot, foot skin diseases, 2 ECTS credits
- Risk foot examination, treatment, and off-loading, 1 ECTS credit
