Early childhood education (5cr)

Objective

You acquaint yourself with the development of Finnish early childhood education and day care service. You understand the significance of early childhood education and educational partnership in the support of parenthood and growth of a child. You are capable of planning, implementing and assessing activities for a group of children. You are able to observe and study child’s play from developmental theoretical and interactive perspective.

Content

What is the Finnish day care service system? How early childhood education and day care system has developed? What are the laws and guidelines regulating early childhood education? What is meant by child-oriented early childhood education? What are the main working methods of early childhood education and how are they used? What is play and how does it change during childhood? What is the role of play in the development and learning of a child?

Qualifications

Knowledge base and work orientation and Professional interaction and counselling modules.
