RDI and cooperation with world of work

Through personal study planning (PSP), students can integrate the studies with the activities of their own work community or with Xamk's research, development, and innovation activities (RDI).

Implementation of studies and flexible learning tracks

The studies are carried out 100% online, and include interactive lectures, guidance meetings, seminars, group work with discussions, as well as independent studying in the online learning environment. Attendance and commitment to interaction are required on scheduled online sessions and additional meetings as agreed by the students and teachers. Independent studying in the online learning environment is flexible in terms of time, within the framework of assignment deadlines. As part of the complementary competence studies (20 ECTS credits), students have the opportunity to choose courses taught on campus, according to their interests. Through personal study planning (PSP), students can also integrate the studies with the activities of their own work community or with Xamk's research, development, and innovation activities (RDI).

Career opportunities

The Master’s Degree Programme in Crisis-Tolerant Healthcare and Social Welfare enables healthcare and social welfare professionals to specialize in a new field of expertise with important societal connections and a clearly identified need. Graduates of the programme can work, for example, in various preparedness and contingency planning expert positions as part of a larger network of actors or as their units' preparedness coordinators supporting organisational safety management. The programme also provides education in promoting crisis tolerance and maintaining the personnel’s preparedness in the healthcare and social welfare sector. As a result, graduates have the opportunity to work in various training tasks that strengthen the organization's operational reliability or in human resources management tasks. Future job opportunities can be further expanded by orienting the studies according to the students’ own goals. The strong research expertise and networking skills developed as part of the programme provide competences for various RDI job descriptions, for example. The students can also build leadership and entrepreneurship skills through their complementary competence study choices.

Learning environments

Studies conducted online require students to have self-management skills, a strong desire to learn and reflect both independently and collaboratively, the courage to ask questions whenever necessary, proactivity in establishing learning-supporting connections, investment in creating and maintaining group dynamics despite the physical distance to others, skills in giving and receiving feedback, and focused presence in joint activities. Students are offered individualized support and guidance throughout the studies.
