Objective

You are able to describe the meaning of active aging at the individual, communal and societal level. You understand ageing and old age as a physical, psychological and social phenomenon and you are able to utilize gerontological knowledge in client work. You have skills to goal-orientedly assess and support the resources and ability to function among aging people. You are familiar with age policy, you know the most essential legislation and the support and service system of elderly care. You know the contents and main work methods of elderly care and you are able to use them in the socio-cultural work with aging people. You reflect your own relationship with aging and aging people. 

Content

How aging is defined? What are gerontological know-how and active aging? How elderly care is regulated by legislation and other norms? How do you support and assess the ability to function of elderly people? What are the most common diseases among elderly people? What is the meaning of socio cultural approach for promoting welfare of elderly people?
