Objective

  Communication is a fundamental part of policies, political decision-making and public perception concerning environmental issues and risks. In this course you focus on the communications that shape the social relations between stakeholders, and explore the drivers and principles of organizations communicating their environmental, social and sustainability performance assessment through the marketing communication process and through sustainability reporting to stakeholders. You explore the role and nature of internal and external communication in the context of sustainable organizations.

Content

What kind of understanding of complex communication processes is needed, involving a broad range of actors and stakeholders? What kind of theories and perspectives in the field of environmental communication are used? How to evaluate the roles of different organizations in processes of environmental communication (e.g risk and crisis communication)? 

Qualifications

Introduction to Environmental Science or equivalent is recommended.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

a. use professional vocabulary and concepts in an expert way in different situations. b. evaluate information sources critically. d. evaluate operations in customer, user and target group situations. g. apply critically the ethical principles of the professional field in different situations.
