Objective
After successfully completing this unit, students: understand how to work safely and cleanly in the Plastics Studio. are familiar with the common materials and methods used in designing and manufacturing plastics products. have learnt the product design process for using plastic.
Content
Timetable for the project, sketches, hand drawn concept for a mass produced product, a mock-up (prototype) made of polystyrene foam, a detailed prototype using thermoforming, machining and adhesives. Mould for thermo formed model is to be made of polyurethane block. Report of the design process is printed and the summary prepared in Powepoint for the final assessment. Exhibition of models
