You improve your competence in the prevention and treatment of young people's substance abuse and mental health issues.
You improve your multi-disciplinary cooperation skills.
You become familiar with the societal means of promoting young people's wellbeing as well as with various networks and the third sector.
You are able to act in an evidence-based manner when working with young people with mental health and substance abuse issues.

How do you deepen your knowledge of young people's substance abuse and mental health issues and how do you prevent and treat them?
What is included in the psychiatric, psychological and neuropsychological examination and treatment of young people?
How do you deepen your competence in multiprofessional teamwork?
Which are the social means, networks and third sector services available to promote young people's wellbeing?
How do you work in an evidence-based manner when preventing and treating young people's mental health and substance abuse problems?
What role do organisations and the third sector play in supporting young people's wellbeing?
How do child welfare structures and practices support young people's wellbeing in different situations?

Evaluation

Based on level 3 of graduation-level competence in Xamk's assessment guidelines
students can:
• expertly use and critically assess professional terminology and concepts relating to young people's mental health and substance abuse care.
• find out the latest information through various databases and online links.
• work in multidisciplinary cooperation in different client and target group situations.
