Objective

Knowledge, understanding and proficiency of:
- Engineering watch duties, watch routines and safety.
- Duties of a rating when forming part of engineering watch.

Content

- Engineering watch and machinery terminology
- Watch-keeping principles of main and auxiliary engines and steam boiler systems
- Common routines and procedures of an engineering watch
- Internal communication and alarm systems
- Acting in different emergency situations
- Part of study shall be carried out on board the training ship M/S Katarina

Evaluation

Students can

- work as team members in a goal-oriented way.

Study forms and methods

Scheduled track:
You will attend teaching and guidance sessions as specified in the schedule. (100% participation)

Independent track:
You attend your study in the multi-mode education. Degree of Deck Officer, operational level (STCW A-II/1) OR Degree of Engineer Officer, operational level (STCW A-III/1) OR Certificate of Competency: Deck Officer / Engineer Officer IS REQUIRED.

Blended track:
Not applicable

Timing of exams and assignments

Registration to any general exams has to be agreed with the lecturer and exams are to be completed according degree regulation.
