Basics of emergency care (10cr)

Objective

• You understand that professional interaction is a key aspect of a paramedic's professional competence
• You understand that the patient’s human dignity, equality and self-determination are crucial in the provision of good emergency care
• Without compromising patient safety, you are able to identify and anticipate problems related to vital body functions that require emergency care or are life threatening, or otherwise require immediate care
• You are familiar with the safe and appropriate use of examination and treatment equipment
• You are able to use data transfer and communication equipment designed to be used outside the hospital
• Based on care instructions, you are able to assess the patient's status and necessity for further treatment and perform proper treatment during transportation, or direct the patient to seek for proper treatment if he/she is not transported
• You are aware of the responsibilities and obligations of the involved authorities

Työviikkopohjainen oppimisväylä:
Ensihoidon perusosaaminen 10op
Osallistuminen teoriaopetukseen sekä ammattitaitoa edistäviin simulaatioharjoitteisiin
Teoriakoe hyväksytty 1-5/hylätty
Osallistuminen osaamisen arviointiin (perustason viikko)
- opiskelija suorittaa viikon mittaisen ensihoidon perusteiden harjoittelun mikä toteutetaan koulun tiloissa

Opiskelija anoo (AHOT) vapautusta opinnoista aiempaan koulutukseen ja työkokemukseen nähden. Tällöin opiskelija on velvoitettu todentamaan osaaminen. (tentti + osaamisen arviointi)

Assessment methods and criteria

Perustason viikolla ryhmätilanteen arviointi, jossa arviointi kriteerit määräytyvät erityisesti ensihoitotilanteeseen rakennetun kriteeristön avulla. Osaamisen hallinnasa korostuvat ei-tekniset taidot NTS.
Arviointi kriteerit pohjautuvat Walter Tavaresin ym. tutkimukseen Global Rating Scale for the Assessment of Paramedic Clinical Competence 2012, jonka Suomessa ensihoidon koulutusohjelmien opettajaverkosto on modifioinut arviointikäyttöön.
Osaamisen arvioinnin arviointiasteikko on valtakunnallinen 1-7, jossa taso 4 tyydyttävä, eli hyväksytty
Ensihoidon perusosaamisen teoriakoe 1-5/hylätty

Opiskelijan teoriaosaaminen ei ole riittävällä tasolla. Tentti hylätty.
Opiskelijan käytännön osaaminen ei ole riittävällä tasolla (alle 4) eli osaamisen arviointi ei ole hyväksytty, jolloin opiskelijan toiminta vaarantaa potilasturvallisuuden

Carry out individual tasks. Usually needs kollagues help

Observe the ethical principles of the professional field in their actions

Assessment criteria, good (3-4)

Know the basics of primary (emergency) care and patient safety occurs in operation
The patient receives good treatment with updated information
Use professional vocabulary systematically
Look for information in the key information sources of the field
Identify interrelated tasks
Work together with customers, users and target groups
Use the key models, methods and techniques of the professional field
Work as team members in a goal-oriented way
Justify their actions according to the ethical principles of the professional field

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Use professional vocabulary and concepts proficiently
Manage appropriate methods of information search
Carry out interrelated tasks fluently
Can justify their actions in patient, customer and group situations
Apply the key models, methods, and techniques of the professional field
Show skills in managing team work
Apply the ethical principles of the professional field according to the situation

Qualifications

The professional competence of a nurse responsible for general care (180 ECTS)
