Objective
You can plan research or development projects and know the appropriate research and development methods for developing information management. You can define the appropriate objectives for your research or development project and select suitable methods for data collection. You are familiar with research ethics and and can identify ethical questions of using data and information. You know both the style and techniques of academic writing in English.

How can you write research or development plans? What are the instructions for research ethics? What are the style and techniques of academic writing?
Evaluation
Based on Xamk's assessment guidelines for students' competence a−g, students can
a) find, study, produce and critically assess multidisciplinary data in the field of information management and digital archiving.
b) solve demanding problems in research, development and innovation activities.
g) communicate proficiently and systematically in native language and in one foreign language.

Course part description
The course includes anEnglish parts of 1 ECTS credit unit part that aims at supporting studies in general. The English part involves updating knowhow and skills in reading texts in English and in mastering the general features of professional vocabulary. In addition, this part covers Xamk's instuctions for writing the master's thesis abstract and its proofreading process.
The English part is assessed on the scale pass / fail, and passing is required for a final course grade. The English part includes two online assignments to submit and one Teams session of 1 to 1.5 hours as part of another course's Teams session. There will be information on the deadlines of the online assignments in the beginning of the autumn term when the course Learn platform becomes available. All the text, sound and video materials of the English part are available through Learn.
