Objective

Knowledge, understanding and proficiency
- handling, stowage and securing of dry cargoes.
- to use available shipboard data related to handling of bulk cargoes.
- in use of equipment and data related to ship’s attitude, hull stress and draft survey.

Content

Dry- and bulk cargoes properties, quantities, calculations and draft survey. Grain cargo calculations and deck cargo. Ventilation of cargo spaces. IMSBC and other relevant regulations. Exercises and simulations.

Evaluation

Students can

- work as team members in working life expert duties and identify and describe the problems of the professional field.

- choose appropriate models, methods, software and techniques according to the purpose and justify these choices.

Study forms and methods

Scheduled track:
You will attend teaching and guidance sessions as specified in the schedule. Cargo quantity calculations in accordance with Load lines agreement 1966/88 and ship stability requirements. Grain and same condition cargoes calculations in accordance with the ship stability requirements at the beginning and at the end (10% fuel and stores) of the trip. Draught survey. Loading NAPA training.

Independent track:
You attend your study in the multi-mode education. Degree of Deck Officer, operational level (STCW A-II/1) OR Certificate of Competency: Deck Officer IS REQUIRED.

Blended track:
Discussion with the teacher and, where appropriate, PSP-planning with your own mentor teacher.

RDI and work-related cooperation

There are no ECTS points for RDI or working life co-operation in the course.
