Objective

You are able to apply evidence-based information to surgical and perioperative nursing.
You master the aseptic practices in your own work and in patient care.
You know the key methods of the nursing which are used in the surgical patient's pre-, intra- and postoperative care.
You can systematically prevent, identify and treat postoperative surgical complications.
You can carry out the medication of a surgical and perioperative patient safely utilizing applied pharmacology.
You master the pain management process.
You know how to apply guidance and teaching methods to surgical and perioperative nursing.
You are able to document the surgical and perioperative nursing process and summary in a nationally uniform way.
You understand the nurse's duties and responsibilities in the surgical nursing.
You develop the teamwork, you appreciate collegiality and understand their significance to the patient and occupational safety.

Content

How do you apply evidence-based information to surgical and perioperative nursing?
What are the most ordinary illnesses and injuries that are surgically taken care?
How is aseptics considered and implemented during the stages of surgical treatment?
What are the objectives of pre-, intra- and postoperative nursing and the key methods of the nursing?
How is patient safety ensured at the surgical process?
How is the observation and treatment of a patient carried out at the different stages of pre-, intra-, and postoperative nursing?
How is safe medication planned, carried out and assessed at the stage of pre-, intra-, and postoperative nursing?
How is medicinal and non-medicinal pain management assessed, planned and carried out?
How do you guide a patient and make him/her committed to self-care?
How do you use the ISBAR and how do you document the nursing?

Teaching methods

-Students who meet the prerequisites will get access the learn platform and they are instructed via Peppi from the start of the course.
-You are allowed to study independently.
-Notice that the learn assingments/exams must be done by the given dates .
-Teams-webinars are not mandatory
-Clinical skills practices, small groups lessons and evaluation are mandatory
-Re-exam according examinationrule

4) Case and skill exercises brought from working life strongly support the understanding and application of theory in practice.
5) Clinical practice 1 continues with the guidance of alumni and other professionals after completing this theory.

International connections

- Teaching and practises can be carried out together with international student groups and international students.
- International week can support surgery studies. Date's will be informed later.

- pre- intra- and postoperative nursing, pain, wound care, complications, anaesthesia, surgical specialties

- Will be carried out on your own campus
