Objective

After the course you have skills:
to apply the multidisciplinary knowledge base to senior and elderly care.
to work in the framework of gerontological and social gerontological approach.
to use the social and socio-cultural perspective in multi-professional senior and elderly care.
to account for the development of elderly policy and legislative basis related to aging and the service system and you know different working methods in elderly care.
to use the empowering work approach among senior citizens and their relatives.

Content

How is aging specified as a psychical, mental and social phenomenon?
What is the social gerontological framework?
What are the legislation, welfare benefits and service system related to aging?
What are the challenges of senior citizens' functional capacity and the opportunities of social support to meet the needs?
What are the professional practices of socio-cultural work among elderly people?
What is the expertise of Bachelors of Social Services in the multi-professional elderly care?

Evaluation

Students can
use professional vocabulary systematically.
search for information in the essential sources of the professional field.
work together with clients, users and target groups.
use the essential patterns, methods, programs and techniques of the professional field.
justify their actions according to the ethical principles of the professional field.

Study forms and methods

Työviikkopohjainen oppimisväylä:

Päiväryhmän toteutus sisältää luentoja, oppimistehtäviä ja tenttejä. Työelämävierailuja, työelämävierailijoita sekä ikääntyneen kohtaamiseen ja ohjaamiseen liittyvän harjoitteen.

Opintoja nopeuttava väylä:

Jos opintojakson ryhmässä on tilaa, on toteutukselle mahdollista osallistua muistakin ryhmistä. Huomioi, että päiväryhmän toteutuksella ei ole kokonaan itsenäistä suoritusvaihtoehtoa.

Työhön integroitu oppimisväylä:

Mikäli työskentelet opintojakson aikana sosionomin työtä vastaavassa / työhön soveltuvassa työtehtävässä ikääntyneiden kanssa, voit sopia opettajan kanssa työhön integroidusta vaihtoehdosta.

Timing of exams and assignments

Opintojaksolla tehdään RAI verkkokoulu ja sen siältämät tentit (THL).
Oppimistehtäviä, joiden määräajat informoidaan heti opintojakson alkaessa infossa.

Hankitun osaamisen tunnistamiseen (HOT/näyttötehtävä, aiemmat korkeakouluopinnot tai tuore työkokemus ikäihmisten kanssa työskentelystä) liittyvissä kysymyksissä ole opettajaan yhteydessä jo viikon 2 / 2024 aikana.
