Objective

Knowledge and understanding of and proficiency in:
- use of the ship's power plant, main power system and large loads
- operation, protection and control of the power plant, main power system and large loads
- safety instructions and regulations

Content

- operating principles of the electricity distribution network
- synchronization
- load sharing
- security equipment

Evaluation

Students can
- use professional vocabulary and concepts in an expert way in different situations
- choose appropriate models, methods, software and techniques according to the purpose and justify these choices
- Work as team members in working life expert duties and identify and describe the problems of the professional field.

In addition, competence evaluation according to STCW code table A-III/2 column 4 are used:
- Surveillance of main propulsion plant and auxiliary systems is sufficient to maintain safe operation condition

Course is graded based on the laboratory works conducted and the report prepared consisting the essentials of the laboratory works.
