Objective

You will identify the different phases of European cultural history in their main outlines from the beginning of the new era (from the 15th century) to the present day.
You will recognize European literary history and stages, as well as trends in fiction in their main features from the beginning of the new era to the present day.
You will recognize the history and stylistic trends of European visual art in their main features from the beginning of the new era to the present day.
You recognize the basic concepts related to cultural history, literature and visual arts.
You choose to examine an era or phenomenon related to European cultural history.
You choose a work of fiction from European culture to review.
You choose a work of art from European culture to look at.
You understand the phenomena of European culture and art field.

Content

What are the stages of European cultural history from the beginning of the modern era to the present day?
What are the phases of European literary history and the main trends of fiction from the beginning of the modern era to the present day?
What are the main stages and stylistic trends in the history of European art from the beginning of the modern era to the present day?
What are the basic concepts of cultural history, literature and visual arts like?
How do I examine the phenomena of European cultural history, fiction and visual arts?

Evaluation

Students can
- to acquire, process, produce and critically evaluate multidisciplinary information about the phenomena and history of European culture, literature and visual arts.
- solve demanding problems in research, development and innovation activities.
- communicate proficiently and systematically in their spoken and written native language and in one foreign language.

In the course, one task defining a concept is done and 3 broader essays are written and 3 essays of fellow students are peer-reviewed.
