Course material

The literature of the study course is announced to those registered for the study course.

Study forms and methods

Teaching is provided in person at the Kotka campus according to the timetable. Remote participation is not possible. Lectures are not generally recorded, nor replaced by remote lectures when in-person instruction is scheduled. If a student cannot attend in-person, the course can be completed by using the course literature. No separate guidance or alternative completion methods are provided for students who are absent; instead, the student must familiarize themselves with the course literature using the lecture materials and complete and submit the assignments according to the teaching schedule and the instructions on the course’s Learn platform.

Studies follow the rhythm of group meetings set in the timetable, as well as learning assignments done independently or in groups. The course consists of four days of lecture-based teaching and individual or small-group tasks completed in class. In addition, there is an assessed project assignment.

Teacher guidance is available during the in-person sessions and in the discussions on the course’s Learn platform.

Various feedback methods are used during the course. These may include, for example, written and oral feedback. Peer feedback may also be employed.

RDI and work-related cooperation

The assignments are based on the needs of operators in the field.

Timing of exams and assignments

The course ends on the date specified in the course details, by which time the student must have submitted the required assignments, completed any exams, and fulfilled any other requirements for a passing grade.pletion.

Student workload

1 credit corresponds to approximately 27 hours of student work. However, the exact workload depends on the student’s study skills and prior knowledge. In a 5-credit course, the total workload is about 135 hours, of which around 35 hours are allocated to lectures and group work under the teacher’s guidance according to the schedule, and around 100 hours are spent on independent study tasks.

Assessment is conducted in relation to the course’s learning objectives and assessment criteria. Passing the course requires completing the project assignment.
