Objective
You can actively use the basic vocabulary of your own field in English.
You can act in English in different communication situations in your field at the European skill level B2.
You can search for information in English-language sources and apply it to study and work.
Content
What essential professional vocabulary do you need?
How do you search information in sources of your field and apply it?
How do you act in English in spoken communication situations and compose texts needed in your field?
How do you communicate in English in the study community and in the workplace?
Evaluation
Students can
a) use the key vocabulary of the field in a consistent way
b) search for information in relevant sources in the field
c) identify interrelated tasks
d) act in a working community with clients, interest groups and applications of the field as well as users of services both in speaking and writing
The assessment is also partly based on the skill levels of the European Framework (CEFR). Grade good (3) requires primarily B2-level skills.

Study forms and methods
The course is implemented as a blended learning course, which includes independent study, online classes and contact sessions on campus according to the schedule. Contact sessions are not recorded. Online classes consist of webinars and other oral exercises, and these are also not recorded except for the information sections.
If you have acquired the skills to work in the energy sector in English in international assignments, contact the teacher if you want to complete the course on screen.
RDI and work-related cooperation
The students can use their work experience in learning tasks.
Timing of exams and assignments
To be announced at the beginning of the course.
The course ends at the time specified in the implementation details, by which the student must have submitted the required assignments, participated in two seminars, and completed the exams, all with a passing grade.

Assessment methods and criteria
The course grade is based on two components:
- written exam without aids (Learn or Exam) (60% weighting)
- oral examination: presentation and discussion (40%)
Each component must be completed with a passing grade.
The assessment of the components is partly based on the European language proficiency levels: C1 = 5, B2 = 3-4, B1 = 1-2.
All mandatory assignments in the course must be passed and are assessed as pass/fail.
The student must participate in at least two webinars, which are assessed as pass/fail.
Qualifications
The student can communicate independently in communication situations (level B1).
