Objective
You know the basic concepts of building construction.
You are able to read construction drawings.
You can describe the most common structural solutions and their risks in different kinds of buildings from different eras.
You know the basics of repair design and the specific measures of repairing indoor environmental problems.
Content
What kind of structural types are used in different kind of buildings?
What are the risk structures and what are their damage mechanisms?
What alternative ways are there to repair structures and what factors should be considered when selecting repair solutions and how to choose the extent of repairs? For example, whether all the materials causing harm should be removed, or whether the intensification of structures is sufficient?
Evaluation
Students can
a. use professional vocabulary and concepts in an expert way in different situations.
e. choose appropriate models, methods, software and techniques according to the purpose and justify these choices.
f. promote teams’ goal-oriented operation.
