Clinical practice II (5cr)

Objective

You know how to act as a podiatrist’s profession requires in various podiatry environments in individual and group situations.
You are able to assess different methods of production and acquisition processes of orthotic therapy.
You are able to make use of and apply the expertise in guiding special client groups as part of various assistive device processes.
You deepen your interaction skills when encountering clients with an individual and holistic approach.
You understand the importance of multi-professional cooperation in orthotic therapy.

Content

What products and services do orthotics units provide?
How do the manufacturing processes of assistive devices proceed and what should you take into account in the different phases of these processes?
What kind of insole manufacturing methods are used in orthotics units?
How do you describe the acquisition process for special footwear and orthoses?
How do you guide clients individually and holistically?
How is multi-professional cooperation carried out in an orthotics unit?

Evaluation

Students can
- use professional vocabulary systematically.
- look for information in the key information sources of the field.
- identify interrelated tasks.
- work together with clients, users and target groups.
- use the key models, methods, software and techniques of the professional field.

* Opintojakso toteutetaan työelämässä, pääasiassa apuvälineyrityksissä
* Opiskelijan tulee saavuttaa harjoittelussa ollessaan opetussuunnitelman tavoitteet, sen lisäksi omat henkilökohtaiset tavoitteet, jotka on harjoittelulle asettanut (tavoitteiden laadinta ja seuranta tapahtuu Workseedissä. Lisäksi workseediin kirjataan työtunnit)
* Harjoittteluun liittyy myös tehtävien tekeminen, jotka ohjeistetaan harjoitteluinfossa
