Objective

The common part (3 ECTS cr) for the bachelor's degree students of all programs:
- You know how to use Xamk`s own systems and the most common digital tools in your studies and profession.
- You will be able to create the most common documents, presentations and spreadsheets.
- You know how to work with information security mindset.

The field-specific part (2 ECTS cr):
- You know the most common digital tools and services in your professional field.
- You know how to use appropriate digital applications and utilize your skills in tasks in your field.

Content

The common part (3 ECTS cr) for the bachelor's degree students of all programs:
- Which Xamk systems do you need during your studies?
- Which information and communication technology applications do you need in your studies and profession?
- How to create the most common documents using word processing, presentation graphics and spreadsheets?
- What is meant by information security and how to work securely in your studies and profession?

The field-specific part (2 ECTS cr):
- Which digital tools and services are used in your professional field?
- How do you use digital applications and utilize your skills in tasks in your professional field?

Evaluation

Students can
c. identify interrelated tasks.
e. use the digital tools and services needed in their studies.
g. justify their actions according to the ethical principles in the digital environments.

Provided during contact sessions and via Learn.

Study forms and methods

Course is planned in two parts:

The general part of the course (3 cr): online studies on the joint Learn platform with the other international degree programmes (implementations XY00EX57-3105, XY00EX57-3080, XY00EX57-3120, XY00EX57-3121) in the period January-March 2026.

The second part of the course (2cr) is part of daytime studies according to timetables.

Timing of exams and assignments

The assignments of the first part (online 3 cr) from January to March. The final submission date: March 31st.

Course part description

The common part (3 ECTS cr) for the bachelor's degree students of all programs:
- Which Xamk systems do you need during your studies?
- Which information and communication technology applications do you need in your studies and profession?
- How to create the most common documents using word processing, presentation graphics and spreadsheets?
- What is meant by information security and how to work securely in your studies and profession?

The field-specific part (2 ECTS cr):
- Which digital tools and services are used in your professional field?
- How do you use digital applications and utilize your skills in tasks in your professional field?
- Integration of MS Office applications

Assessment methods and criteria

The assessment scale: pass / fail
The general online part (3 cr) must be completed between January-March 2026.
Tasks to be completed according to second part (2cr) via contact sessions.

The common part (3 ECTS cr) for the bachelor's degree students of all programs is implemented online in the Learn environment. In the field-specific (2 ECTS cr) part, the method of implementation is on-site or online studies, according to the degree program's own decision.
