Objective
You can actively use the basic vocabulary of your own field in English.
You can act in English in different communication situations in your field at the European skill level B2.
You can search for information in English-language sources and apply it to study and work.
Content
What essential professional vocabulary do you need?
How do you search information in sources of your field and apply it?
How do you act in English in spoken communication situations and compose texts needed in your field?
How do you communicate in English in the study community and in the workplace?
Evaluation
Students can
a) use the key vocabulary of the field in a consistent way
b) search for information in relevant sources in the field
c) identify interrelated tasks
d) act in a working community with clients, interest groups and applications of the field as well as users of services both in speaking and writing
The assessment is also partly based on the skill levels of the European Framework (CEFR). Grade good (3) requires primarily B2-level skills.

Study forms and methods
The course is implemented entirely online except for the exam which needs to be taken in Exam.
Learn platform for studying the course will be opened when the course starts.
Independent assignments form the core of the course and will be assessed.
Feedback forms include, for example, oral and written feedback.
RDI and work-related cooperation
Field-specific vocabulary for professional purposes will be practiced.
Timing of exams and assignments
The learning assignments can be completed according to one's own schedule. The exam can be taken on any of the Xamk campuses but also on any other campus that allows a university of applied sciences exam visits. Instructions for taking the Exam will be given during the course.
