Objective

Knowledge and understanding of and proficiency in:
- the basics of mechanical system maintenance and methods
- maintenance arrays
- diagnostic applications and devices of maintenance
- failure mechanisms
- applications of maintenance on board a ship

Content

- the fundamentals of maintenance
- maintenance systems
- organization of maintenance
- condition monitoring and systems
- risk assesment
- safety at work
- environment protection

Evaluation

Students can
- use professional vocabulary and concepts in an expert way in different situations
- look for information in the key information sources of the field
- evaluate operations in customer, user and target group situations
- promote teams’ goal-oriented operation

In addition, competence evaluation according to STCW code table A-III/1 column 4 are used:
- maintenance activities are correctly planned and carried out in accordance with technical, legislative, safety and procedural specifications
- working practices are in accordance with legislative requirements, codes of practice, permits to work and environmental concerns

Study forms and methods

Opetus toteutetaan kokonaan lähiopetuksena Kotkan kampuksella lukujärjestyksen mukaan. Etäosallistuminen ei ole mahdollista. Lähiopetusta ei lähtökohtaisesti tallenneta, eikä sitä korvata etäluennoilla silloin, kun lähiopetusta annetaan lukujärjestyksen mukaan. Osa opetuksesta tapahtuu simulaatioympäristössä. Läsnäolo simulaatioharjoituksissa/suullisissa harjoituksissa/työelämävierailuilla on välttämätöntä opintojakson suorittamiseksi.
• Opiskelu rytmittyy työjärjestyksen mukaisten ryhmätapaamisten ja itsenäisesti tehtävien/ryhmässä tehtävien oppimistehtävien mukaan. Opintojakso koostuu 8 luento-opetuskerrasta ja tunnilla tehtävistä yksilö ja pienryhmätehtävistä.
• Opettajan ohjausta saatavilla lähituntien yhteydessä.
• Arvioitavat tehtävät tehdään itsenäisesti/ryhmänä/paritöinä.
• Opintojaksolla hyödynnetään erilaisia palautteenantotapoja

Opintojakson viimeisellä lähiopetuskerralla tehdään tentti/Opintojakson päätteeksi tentti.
Kurssi päättyy toteutuksen tiedoissa ilmoitettuna aikana, johon mennessä opiskelija on palauttanut suoritukseen vaadittavat harjoitustehtävät, suorittanut mahdolliset tentit ja täyttänyt muut hyväksytyn suorituksen vaatimukset.
