Objective
You master the basic structures of English grammar.
You are able to use tools that support your English studies and improve your language learning skills.
Content
What are the key structures of English that you need in your work?
How do you write short texts in English?
How do you practice your reading and listening skills?
How do you practice your speaking skills?
How do you develop your language learning skills and use related tools efficiently?
Evaluation
a) You are able to use the key structures and vocabulary of English both in spoken and written language.
b) You are able to look for information relating to the English language.
e) You are able to choose tools that support your English studies and personal methods of study and use them efficiently.
In addition, the assessment of English studies relies on the competence levels defined in the Common European Frame of Reference and the national skill level descriptions that are based on the European framework.
Course material
The course material is compiled on the Learn platform. The course also uses the Opinaika program, which is explained in more detail on the course platform.
Study forms and methods
The course content is studied entirely online. Students can complete independent learning tasks at their own pace and track their progress using Learn's progress tracking tool. The tasks are both written and oral exercises. Some of the tasks are automatically graded. The teacher grades the returned tasks as passed/failed but does not provide qualitative feedback.

Timing of exams and assignments
Once all course assignments have been completed, the online exam will open automatically. You must get 50% correct to pass the exam.
The exam must be taken no later than January 31, 2027.
Student workload
1 credit corresponds to approximately 27 hours of student work. However, the workload depends on study skills and previous knowledge. 3 credits corresponds to approximately 81 hours' workload.
Course part description
The course has 11 modules, which include grammar exercises, vocabulary exercises, and communication exercises.

Assessment methods and criteria
The assessment is based on an online exam. The grading scale is pass/fail. Vocational school students receive a numerical grade (1-5) based on the exam result. If you need a numerical grade, please contact the teacher before taking the exam
