Objective
Knowledge and understanding of and proficiency in:
- basic theory of fluid dynamics
- pneumatic equipment and operation
- hydraulic equipment and operation
- flow diagrams
- maintenance and work safety of pneumatic and hydraulic applications
Content
- basic theory of fluid power
- hydraulic components: pumps, motors, actuators, valves, piping, tanks, filters, control
- mobile- and factory hydraulic applications in ship; power-packs
- pneumatic components: compressors, motors and actuators, piping, valves, quality, filtration and drying, control
- pneumatic applications in ship
- maintenance of equipment
- work and environment safety
Evaluation
Students can:
- use professional vocabulary and concepts in an expert way in different situations
- choose appropriate models, methods, software and techniques according to the purpose and justify these choices
- apply critically the ethical principles of the professional field in different situations
In addition, competence evaluation according to STCW code table A-III/2 column 4 are used:
- explanation and understanding of design features and operating mechanisms are appropriate
