Objective
You will learn the basic mathematical skills that are necessary in solving technical and economical problems.
For example, you will learn to
- use arithmetic operations to determine logistics indicators.
- solve systems of equations used in resolving flow problems.
- calculate the surface areas and volumes that are most typical in engineering context.
- use vector calculus when combining force and speed.
- use the logarithmic scale.
- use the exponential function when processing and analysing transient and growth phenomena.
Content
How do I solve technical and economical engineering problems with the help of mathematics?
For example:
How do I calculate the cost per kilometer for a vehicle?
How do I solve a system of linear equations?
How do I calculate the volume of a receptacle?
How do I calculate opposite forces in vector form (securing of cargo)?
How do I use and interpret the logarithmic scale?
How do I calculate thermal equilibrium and radioactive degradation with the help of exponential functions?
Evaluation
Tests and assignments. Assessment is given on the scale of 0 to 5 (requirement for a grade of 1 is 35%).
