Material workshop (10 cr)

Objective

General learning outcomes
- accepted completion of the course in each material workshop gives the right to work independently at the workshops.
- you can use the machines, equipment and hand tools of the workshops.
- you are able to make an active contribution to the development of the working environment.
- you are familiar with the structure, properties and ways of working in the workshop in question.
- you are able to identify the most common materials and their basic properties.
- you learn to follow development in the field and can continuously develop your material skills.

The content of courses included in the module vary, depending on the field of study.

Content

How to use tools, machines and devices safely and keep them in good condition?
How to identify the most important properties of materials?
How to design aesthetic and suitable objects and products while using material responsibly?

Evaluation

Students can
- apply the key models, methods, software and techniques of the professional field
- work as team members in a goal-oriented way
- justify their actions according to the ethical principles of the professional field.

Study forms and methods

Työviikkopohjainen oppimisväylä

Mahdollisesta yksilöllisestä oppimisväylästä tulee neuvotella opettajien kanssa.

Opiskelua on mahdollista suorittaa joustavasti kolmea eri oppimisväylää:

- Työhön integroitu oppimisväylä

Timing of exams and assignments

Opintojaksolla on tehtäviä ja myös tenttejä. Ajoitus selviää jakson alussa.

Student workload

Opiskelijan työmäärä on yhtä opintopistettä kohden 27 tuntia
10 op on yhteensä 270 tuntia, josta kontaktiopetusta on 140-150 tuntia ja loput itsenäistä työskentelyä.
