Objective

After you have completed the course you
- know how to identify the most common natural textile fibers
- have expanded your knowledge of organic materials and identification of wood species
- know how to prepare wood samples for microscopy
- know how to use stereo and light microscopes in material research
- know the basics of microscopic photography and can produce documentation material from samples
- know how to apply knowledge from your earlier chemistry courses in your project and bachelor's thesis.

Content

- What are natural fibers?
- How to identify natural fibers in the laboratory with reference samples?
- What is fiber analysis?
- How to identify wood species and analyze reference wood samples?

Evaluation

Students can:
use professional vocabulary systematically.
look for information in the key information sources of the field.
identify interrelated tasks.
use the key models, methods, software and techniques of the professional field.
justify their actions according to the ethical principles of the professional field.
