Objective

- You acknowledge the needs of healthcare and social welfare to prepare for different multidimensional threats as outlined in the national risk assessment.
- You understand the activities and objectives of national strategies, network-based preparedness and inter-authority cooperation in preventing multidimensional threats.
- You are able to recognise the complexity of multidimensional threats and perceive the opportunities for continuous learning to further increase your expertise in this regard.

Content

- What are the key strategies and directives related to cyber security in healthcare and social welfare activities?
- What are the most essential hazardous materials (CBRN) and how to prepare for situations involving them?
- What threats may natural phenomena pose to healthcare and social welfare activities?
- How to prepare for information influence that threatens healthcare and social welfare activities?
- What international cooperation is done to prepare for public health security threats?

Evaluation

Students can:
a. find, study, produce and evaluate critically multidisciplinary data associated with multidimensional threat scenarios affecting healthcare and social welfare
b. solve demanding development problems
c. independently evaluate operations involving teams
d. be responsible for operations and develop them independently
e. evaluate different strategic approaches and justify their use in terms of development
f. work independently in the expert duties of their professional field
g. communicate proficiently and systematically in spoken and written Finnish and English
h. develop their continuous learning skills

Course material

Study materials are provided by the teacher in class or via the Learn platform.

Study forms and methods

The course is delivered entirely online and comprises interactive lectures, supervisory meetings, various group assignments with discussions, as well as independent study within the virtual learning environment.
Active participation and engagement are required on the scheduled online teaching days as well as on additional joint study days agreed upon by students and instructors.
The course places particular emphasis on interprofessional group work, which requires the ability and flexibility to adapt to the schedules of both the group and the assignments.

RDI and work-related cooperation

Guest lectures will be given by representatives from the world of work.

Timing of exams and assignments

The end date of the course is presented in the course details. By this date, the student must submit all assignments, take the required exams and meet all other conditions set for an approved course completion.

Student workload

• 1 ECTS credits equals 27 hours of work by the student.
• In a 5-credit course, the student's total maximum workload is approximately 135 hours including lessons, group work and independent study.

The student’s performance is assessed with reference to the learning objectives and assessment criteria of the course.
