Sexual health promotion in different operating environments (5 cr)

Objective

You know how illness and injury may affect the client´s sexual health.
You are able to discuss sexuality with the client in different care and rehabilitation situations.
You are able to counsel the client on how to use products and aids that promote sexual health.
You recognize challenges related to attitudes towards sexual health promotion and you are able to affect the prevailing attitudes in your own workplace.

Content

How can illness and injury affect the client´s sexual health?
How do you discuss sexuality with the client in different care and rehabilitation situations?
How can sexual health be promoted with the help of various products and aids?
How do the attitudes of professionals in the workplace affect the promotion of a client´s sexual health during care and rehabilitation process?

Evaluation

Students are able to

a. use professional vocabulary and concepts in an expert way in different situations.
b. evaluate information sources critically.
c. work as team members in working life expert duties and identify and describe the problems of the professional field.
d. evaluate operations in customer, user and target group situations.
e. choose appropriate models, methods, software and techniques according to the purpose and justify these choices.
f. promote teams’ goal-oriented operation.
g. apply critically the ethical principles of the professional field in different situations.

Course material

Opiskelumateriaali ilmoitetaan Learnissa.
Lisäksi tarvitset opintojakson tekemiseen näitä kirjoja:

2) Seksuaalisuus hoitotyössä (2010; Ryttyläinen, K. ja Valkama, S.)

Jos olet käynyt seksuaalineuvojakoulutuksen, niin olethan yhteydessä opintojakson opettajaan ennen opintojakson alkua.

RDI and work-related cooperation

Työelämäyhteistyö toteutuu osittain opintotehtävissä.

Timing of exams and assignments

Opintojaksoon kuuluu sekä tehtäviä että Learnissa oleva tentti. Saat näistä tiedon opintojakson alussa (Learnissa).

Laitamme ennen opintojakson alkua kaikille opintojaksolle hyväksytyille Pepin kautta viestin, jossa saat tarkempaa tietoa mm. tehtävien palautusaikatauluista. Huomaa, että ensimmäinen tehtävä tulee palauttaa kahden viikon sisällä opintojakson alkamisesta.

• Äitiys- ja perhehoitotyö (tämä voi toteutua saman lukukauden aikana)


Saat ennen opintojakson alkua infoviestin Pepin kautta. Kerromme siinä Learn-alustan kirjautumistiedot. Käy kirjautumassa Learniin heti opintojakson alussa. Näin saat tiedon tehtävistä, joille on erikseen määritelty palautusaikataulu.

Opintojakso suoritetaan kokonaan verkko-opintoina.

Assessment methods and criteria

Opintojakso pitää sisällään sekä kirjallisia tehtäviä, jotka arvioidaan asteikolla hyväksytty/hylätty että tentin, joka arvioidaan numeerisesti. Tehtävät vaikuttavat myös opintojakson numeeriseen kokonaisarviointiin. Tästä on lisätietoa Learn-alustalla.

Participation in the course requires that the first and second year studies have been completed, or equivalent knowledge and skills have been gained.
