Objective

You know how illness and injury may affect the client´s sexual health.
You are able to discuss sexuality with the client in different care and rehabilitation situations.
You are able to counsel the client on how to use products and aids that promote sexual health.
You recognize challenges related to attitudes towards sexual health promotion and you are able to affect the prevailing attitudes in your own workplace.

Content

How can illness and injury affect the client´s sexual health?
How do you discuss sexuality with the client in different care and rehabilitation situations?
How can sexual health be promoted with the help of various products and aids?
How do the attitudes of professionals in the workplace affect the promotion of a client´s sexual health during care and rehabilitation process?

Evaluation

Students are able to

a. use professional vocabulary and concepts in an expert way in different situations.
b. evaluate information sources critically.
c. work as team members in working life expert duties and identify and describe the problems of the professional field.
d. evaluate operations in customer, user and target group situations.
e. choose appropriate models, methods, software and techniques according to the purpose and justify these choices.
f. promote teams’ goal-oriented operation.
g. apply critically the ethical principles of the professional field in different situations.

Qualifications

Participation in the course requires that the first and second year studies have been completed, or equivalent knowledge and skills have been gained.
