Objective

Students are able to communicate assertively in English in the professional context, paying attention to the demands of the situation, and are also effective in unexpected situations. Students are familiar with the essential English terminology of their field and can utilise their language skills in tasks requiring expertise. The objective is to reach level C1 skills as defined by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages Prerequisite for course participation is the completion of English for Engineering (LO students) or Business English (LL students). After the completion of the course students are able toevaluate their own learning, evaluate success of communication situations, and apply their skills in new situations.efficiently use language tools (e.g. Internet dictionaries, search machines, and proof-reading tools).adapt their communication styles according to the situation, interlocutor, and the language skills of participants.understand cultural differences in communication.compose an abstract for the Bachelor’s thesis according to KyUAS guidelines.understand and explain processes and practices and operations of machinery in their own field.compose professional texts related to their own field of engineering, e.g. on the basis of Finnish source materials.use precise and idiomatic professional terminology in oral communication in field-specific contexts, e.g. meetings.retrieve information, continuously expand the scope of their expertise and share it with group members.critically and analytically search for and read online articles that relate to logistics, and refer to the contents of the articles when composing their course assignments or bachelor’s thesis.describe the organization and operation of a supply chain and the software that is used for supply chain management.
