Medical nursing and preclinical training (7 cr)

Objective

You understand the responsibilities and onuses in nursing patients with internal disease or cancer.
You understand the nursing process of patients with internal disease or cancer.
You can apply evidence-based knowledge of most common internal diseases and cancers in nursing.
You can assess systematically the need of care.
You master the main methods and diagnostic examinations used in nursing.
You are able to implement the pharmacotherapy of patients with internal disease and a palliative patients using pharmacology that is safely applied.
You apply your knowledge in medication to patient counselling and care.
You act and counsel patient in accordance with rehabilitation promoting principles.
You can apply the principles of radiation safety.
You master the principles of safe transfusion.
You can record, report and consult based on ISBAR-model.
You develop in teamwork, respect collegiality and understand the importance of them in patient and work safety.

Study forms and methods

The course includes
- 4 credits of joint implementation between all campuses. Includes both time-bound webinars (voluntary participation) and independent study through materials and learning tasks provided/assigned on the learning platform. The learning platform will include lecture materials and recordings.
- 3 credits in campus, including preclinical training (compulsory participation)

RDI and work-related cooperation

Possible expert lectures or working life visits.
Examples from working life will be used in exercises and simulations.

Timing of exams and assignments

On the course learning platform Learn, there is a learning task(s) for each section, which must be successfully completed before the end of the course.

The course exam will be taken in Exam (service for supervised electronic exams) before the end of the course.

You can raise the approved grade once (the better performance will be recorded in the final assessment). You can renew a failed grade twice during the year.

Assessment of competence in preclinical exercises will be performed at a pre-announced time.

Student workload

1 credit corresponds to about 27 hours of student work.
However, the amount of work depends on the study methods and previous knowledge.
