Objective

After completing the course, the student will be able to: describe their education and work experience, and to prepare a professional CV in English converse in English with confidence communicate competently and professionally by email and telephone describe companies or organisations in the relevant field using appropriate English expressions explain and use field-essential basic concepts in English plan and give clear oral and visual presentations in English in subjects related to their field in a professional manner produce written material of good quality concerning design projects, design companies, and  business communication find information, enhance their own expertise, and contribute some of it to the group use correct and idiomatic language at trade fairs, in negotiations, and business visits

Content

an individual’s approach to learning and  language tools using spoken English in everyday situations making a professional presentation job applications and employment matters communicating using email and telephone field-essential basic concepts oral and visual presentations of projects, design trends, designers, and design companies in various countries some of the more demanding grammatical structures  business visits, meetings, negotiations, and trade fairs

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Description of targets of the assessment is given in the description of the implementation.  Scale: Excellent (5), good (4-3), pass (2-1),  fail (0). Grades 3-5 require language skills in the European B2 level. In addition to the criteria for a pass grade specified in the course implementation description, active participation in the tuition is a prerequisite for passing a course. Active participation means that the student attends 75% of the amount of contact lessons unless the course implementation informs otherwise.  The language lecturers record attendances in attendance registers. A course that is failed due to too many absences cannot be resat by retaking the exam. Instead, the student has to attend the course again. makes sure that they have the study material (e.g. the textbook) specified in the curriculum. takes part in the activities instructed by the lecturer in the contact lessons. completes the given homework according to the lecturer's instructions and on time.
