The Topic and the Plan of the Bachelor's ThesisLaajuus (3 cr)

Objective

The objective of  thesis work is to prove  she students independent ability to  plan and execute a design assignment. The student masters the design process and  is capable of gaining necessary skills and knowledge to execute the design. The student is able to documentate and evaluate his/hers work in writing. The thesis has three phases: The topic and the plan (3 ect.), production of the content (temporary control) (7 ect.) and the  revision of  the whole (5 ect.). Having completed the study unit, the student: own readiness to apply knowledge and skills in the practical expert task which is related to the professional studies has internalised the developing and examining work approach has been trained to scientific thinking and expression

Content

In the Department of Design and Media thesis works are mostly real working life assignments. The work consist of the final design, a portfolio showing the design process and the research and documentation of the work in writing. to participate in the topic seminar and the plan seminar in the topic seminar the student presents the idea of his/her topic, target and the possible partner company in the plan seminar the student presents realistic plan by writing pragmatic text and take account to discussion about plans of other students Identifying current need for development, for example with the representatives of the work environment as well as limiting the topic. data acquisition: library information consultations with the representatives of the work environment bachelor´s thesis agreement final project process: designing the plan, timetable between the seminars the student tap into his/her guide teacher
