Objective
You will learn to structure your studies in a goal-oriented way, which will enable you to grow as a professional and improve your knowledge of your chosen sector. You will also gain an understanding of the professional ethics in your sector. You will become able to select the studying methods that suit you best and steer your studies towards your goals. You will develop your own professional identity. You will become familiar with the standard operating procedures in your chosen sector, enabling you to operate in accordance with relevant rules. You will become able to apply your knowledge of the principles of professional ethics in your chosen sector to a variety of situations.
Content
The course in professional growth contains three modules. Introduction to studies at the University of Applied Sciences (2 ECTS) What is Mikkeli University of Applied Sciences like as a studying community? What types of expertise will be vital in terms of your professionalism? What type of studying plan has been made for your degree programme? What are you like as a student? What demands will be placed on you by your studies at the University of Applied Sciences? What will you need to learn during your first year of studying that will enable you to achieve the goals set for the first year of your studies? Familiarity with your sector (2 ECTS) What is the operating environment like in your professional sector? Which standard operating procedures and rules are prevalent in your chosen sector? What challenges will your sector face in the future? What type of expertise will you need to have obtained in order to have successfully completed your second year of studies? Professional ethics (1 ECTS) What are the ethical principles of your chosen sector? What factors shape the ethical principles in your sector? What type of expertise will you need to have obtained in order to have successfully completed your third (and fourth) year of studies?
